
Fr. James Mason serves as the pastor of the Good Shepherd Pastorate for the Diocese of Sioux Falls. He has also served the diocese as Vicar of Clergy, Vice-Chancellor, Vocation Director, Medical-Moral Advisor, and Director of Broom Tree Retreat Center. He is the former President-Rector of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in Saint Louis, Missouri, bringing deep experience in priestly formation and pastoral leadership. Prior to his priesthood, Fr. Mason earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School, working as a prosecutor in Minneapolis, as well as serving as Director of Catholic Charities, legal counsel, and lobbyist.
Fr. Mason completed his Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum) in Rome, while attending the Pontifical North American College. He is widely respected for his commitment to priestly and spiritual formation, having led 30-day Ignatian retreats for over a decade and spending eight years immersed in seminary formation. His voice continues to be a vital one in the movement for formational reform and renewal in the Church.
