St. John the Baptist Catholic Montessori School seeks a principal starting in the 2022-2023 school year. St. John the Baptist serves students from 16 months to eighth grade and enrolls 117 students with a professional staff of 17 teachers. Catholic education is at the heart of the evangelizing mission of the Church to “Go and make disciples” (Mt 28:19).

Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis are vital to the evangelizing mission of the Church. They strive to provide an education that is authentically Catholic: a formation of the whole person in the light of Jesus Christ. The mission of St. John the Baptist Catholic Montessori School is to prepare students to live out the Gospel message, achieve academic excellence, and joyfully lead by faith, virtue, reason.

However, “The project of the Catholic school is convincing only if carried out by people who are deeply motivated, because they witness to a living encounter with Christ” (Congregation for Catholic Education, 1997). The successful candidate will establish, demonstrate, and promote the highest standards of excellence in Catholic culture, academics, and organizational leadership. Other requirements include:

·         A practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church who is able to provide a credible witness of the Catholic Faith

·         A deep commitment to the importance and mission of Catholic schools

·         A master’s degree in Catholic school leadership or its equivalent (or in progress) preferred

·         A minimum of three years teaching or administrative experience in Catholic schools

The Parish Catechetical Leader, under direction of the pastor, is responsible for the overall direction of the parish's total catechetical ministry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Envisions, plans, develops, and then organizes and evaluates all facets of the parish's formation programming (adult, young adult, adolescent/youth, children, infants, and family as well as sacramental preparation for initiation - including the catechumenate - and proximate preparation for marriage).

Coordinates, recruits, facilitates training for, and evaluates catechists and volunteers involved in catechetical programming. Researches and selects appropriate materials and media for parish use.

Communicates with parishioners, parish staff, and diocesan representatives on relevant matters.

Stays current regarding developments or trends in the field of catechetics, education, and ministry.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Religious Education, or related area from accredited university. Master's Degree in related field preferred.

The ideal candidate will desire to grow the current Religious Education program through personal contact with parishioners, will desire to expand volunteer participation within the program.

Must be comfortable speaking publicly, have a creative vision, and work well with various personalities.

This position requires weekend work and frequent evenings to accommodate a variety of youth and adult faith formation opportunities.

Position reports directly to the pastor.
