Catholic School Principle

Saint Helena Catholic School seeks a principal starting in the 2022-2023 school year. Saint Helena Catholic School serves students in grades Pre-K - 8th grade and enrolls 115 students with a professional staff of 20. Catholic education is at the heart of the evangelizing mission of the Church to “Go and make disciples” (Mt 28:19).

Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis are vital to the evangelizing mission of the Church. They strive to provide an education that is authentically Catholic: a formation of the whole person in the light of Jesus Christ. Saint Helena Catholic School strives to develop the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical character of each unique student in partnership with parents and the Church community. Our instruction is founded on the Catholic faith, inspired by the Gospel life of Jesus, and rooted in the sacramental life of the Church. It encourages the pursuit of academic excellence, self-discipline, and charity for others while living the Catholic faith through action. In following the example of Jesus, all members are expected to be responsible and respectful to self and others in thought, word, and deed.

However, “The project of the Catholic school is convincing only if carried out by people who are deeply motivated, because they witness to a living encounter with Christ” (Congregation for Catholic Education, 1997). The successful candidate will establish, demonstrate, and promote the highest standards of excellence in Catholic culture, academics, and organizational leadership. Other requirements include:

·        A practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church who is able to provide a credible witness of the Catholic Faith

·        A deep commitment to the importance and mission of Catholic schools

·        A master’s degree in Catholic school leadership or its equivalent (or in progress) preferred

·        A minimum of three years teaching or administrative experience in Catholic schools preferred

Please view the full job prospectus for more information.

Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner which is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese, such that can embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. It is required that this employee be an active, participating Roman Catholic.

To apply for this position, please submit an application via the Archdiocesan Catholic Education Careers Portal by February 4th, 2022. Applicants will be asked to provide a resume with three professional references, a cover letter and a letter of good standing from their pastor. Please direct questions to Jane Hileman at .
