The Diocese of Peoria seeks a multi-talented, faith inspired communications specialist to help develop diocesan communications. A primary role is to serve as editor-in-chief of The Catholic Post, the diocesan award-winning publication. Working in tandem with an experienced staff, the editor-in-chief oversees the content of the biweekly print edition as well as its website and growing social media outreach. Duties also include reporting, photography and management of the on-site team with the goal of informing, inspiring and uniting Catholics in the 26-county diocese in central Illinois. With native son, sainthood candidate, and pioneering communicator Venerable Fulton J. Sheen as a model, the ideal candidate will be a forward-thinker to assist the diocesan bishop in this exciting time of emerging technologies to share news and vital information strengthening the communications efforts for the future.

Candidates should be an active participant in the Catholic faith, in good standing, with a solid understanding of the mission of the Church and how to effectively communicate to a wide-ranging audience. Experience in supervising and leading others is preferred. The Communications Specialist will report directly to the Chief of Mission and will be integral in furthering the mission of Jesus and the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Peoria. The Communications Specialist will help develop people, processes and tools that ensure fruitful and mission-driven communication strategies to all those engaged or seeking engagement with the Church.
