Retreats and Conferences
Step away from your daily routine and encounter Christ through prayer, learning, and fellowship.

Step away from your daily routine and encounter Christ through prayer, learning, and fellowship.
“Come away by yourselves… and rest awhile.” Mark 6:31
Jesus invited his disciples to spend some time away with him in prayer. At the Augustine Institute, we are committed to helping Catholics understand, live, and share their faith.

Our 285-acre campus and first-rate facilities offer retreatants a beautiful setting to cultivate the important element of the Christian life of discipleship—time with the Lord in retreat and respite. Augustine Institute retreats provide you with an opportunity to step away from the busyness of daily life to spend time with our Lord in prayer, fellowship, and learning. We invite you to explore our available retreats and mornings of recollection below and allow yourself the chance to learn from experienced teachers of the faith, participate in the Holy Mass, and meet others who are also striving for Heaven.

Advent is a season of preparation and hopeful anticipation, where Catholics reflect on the coming of Christ both in the Nativity and in His eventual second coming. The figures of John the Baptist and Mary give us models of how to wait and to pray in this liturgical season.

Start the new year by deepening your faith with a two-day retreat focused on the Gospel of St. Matthew. Join Dr. Tim Gray and Dr. Michael Barber for a time of study, prayer, and community as you explore Christ’s life and mission for your own discipleship and for sharing the Gospel with others.

Conclude your celebration of Catholic Schools Week by joining the faculty of the Augustine Institute for a morning of reflection on the harmony between theology and literature in themselves and in the classroom. This event is especially envisioned for Catholic educators.

Join Augustine Institute faculty and your fellow lay leaders for a day-long workshop on sacramental preparation. Sponsored by the MA Pastoral Theology program at the Augustine Institute and designed for lay pastoral leaders, this workshop will arm participants with theological knowledge and pastoral application to take back to their mission fields.

This Valentine's weekend, join us for a marriage retreat rooted in Scripture, as we journey through the stories of couples in the Bible to better understand God’s plan for marriage. Through talks, prayer and meaningful activities, couples will rediscover their shared calling, grow in love and communication, and be renewed in their commitment to each other and to Christ.

This Lent, make a short retreat (8 am – 3 pm) that offers space for Mass, Lenten reflections and time for silence. In just a few hours, you’ll find an opportunity for clarity, renewal, and the grace to walk the season with greater purpose.

Find renewal and inspiration at our High School Theology Teachers’ Conference. Attend engaging sessions designed to refresh your spirit, and participate in workshops to equip you for your calling as an educator of theology. Rest, connect with other theology teachers, and gain guidance for faithfully forming the next generation in truth and virtue. This conference is free for all high school theology teachers!

Set aside one morning this Lent to rest with the Lord and realign your heart. Step away from the noise and rediscover the grace God wants to give you this season.

Have you ever wondered what happens each day of Holy Week? Join us as we reflect on the gospel scenes of the holiest days of the liturgical year. This overnight retreat will transform the way you understand the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through engaging biblically rooted talks, liturgical prayer, and private time for meditation you are invited to enter into the mysteries of Holy Week and to prepare your heart for the joy of Easter.

Celebrate the joy of Easter with a morning that lifts your heart into the light of the Resurrection. Come be renewed in the hope Christ offers to each of us.

Saint Paul is not only one of the most foundational voices of our faith. His letters are part of God’s own revelation, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and treasured by the Church as a wellspring of doctrine. This weekend retreat will help you encounter Paul with fresh clarity, revealing the Apostle’s true vision of grace, discipleship, and the life of the Church.

A series of ten-day seminars on Sacred Scripture and biblical theology offered to priests by the faculty of the Augustine Institute Graduate School of Theology. These seminars provide priests a time dedicated to the prayerful study of the Sacred Page, for their own interior refreshment and for the edification of the faithful through their exercise of the ministry of preaching.

Join us at the Augustine Institute campus this summer for Dwelling in the Word: An Amen Retreat. Together, we will reflect on the practice of reading Sacred Scripture in prayer, otherwise known as lectio divina. This retreat, led by our Graduate School of Theology professors, will cover the four steps of lectio divina: read, meditate, pray, and contemplate.

St. Augustine once wrote of God, “Our hearts are restless until they rest in You”—and this retreat invites you to rediscover a foretaste of that rest with Saint Augustine as your guide. Led by experts on the writings and person of Saint Augustine, you’re invited to encounter the saint’s burning desire for God and let it set your own heart on fire.

The Liturgical Year is more than a calendar — it’s a spiritual roadmap, designed to form, sanctify, and guide the Church in every season of life. Join us for a weekend retreat that invites you to live the Church year with refreshed intention, prayer, and joy.

Come away for a weekend of spiritual renewal through prayer, the Sacraments, and rich fellowship with women pursuing holiness. Guided by the Sisters of Life, this retreat offers space to rest in God’s love, be strengthened in your feminine vocation, and rediscover the joy and peace found in Christ.
