Curtis Mitch, M.A.

Bible Projects Managing Editor | Concurrent Associate Professor of Sacred Scripture

Biography

Curtis Mitch joined the Augustine Institute in 2022 as a Bible Projects Managing Editor and concurrent Associate Professor of Sacred Scripture. Besides enjoying time with his family, his interests orbit entirely around biblical exegesis, theology, and translation. His mission, as one whose life has been deeply impacted by the Word of God, is to understand the Scriptures with the mind of the Church and to help others make the Bible a central and fruitful part of their Catholic lives. To this end, Curtis spent more than 20 years as Associate Editor, writing essays, introductions, and annotations for the complete Ignatius Catholic Study Bible (Ignatius Press, 2024). He also coauthored commentaries on the Gospel of Matthew with Edward Sri (Baker Academic, 2010) and Paul’s letter to the Romans with Scott Hahn (Baker Academic, 2017). He has published a number of popular-level articles and book chapters on biblical topics as well.

Previously, Curtis taught courses in Sacred Scripture as an adjunct instructor at Franciscan University of Steubenville and at Catholic Distance University. Before coming to the Augustine Institute, he worked for Ignatius Press, the Diocese of Pittsburgh, and the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. Curtis and his wife Stacy are the proud parents of nine children. They currently reside in Ohio.

The Augustine Institute Graduate School is committed to the pursuit of wisdom in service of Catholic mission. All of our academic programs therefore seek, first, to allow students to make their own “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col. 2:3), which are found in Christ and passed down in the Sacred Tradition of the Catholic Church. Second, our programs prepare students to hand these treasures on to others effectively through evangelization and catechesis.
