Alumni Spotlight: Aurora Cerulli
Aurora Cerulli ’14 doing makeup on the set of Reborn
Filmmakers for the New Evangelization Never thinking film production would be her career, Aurora Cerulli (’14) now says she is experiencing “radical joy” working for the Augustine Institute’s film team. Aurora describes the Institute’s “two lungs” of the graduate school and parish programs; she says: “one side is teaching,” and the other side is “engaging people where they are and giving them the tools to teach others.” She views the film making process in light of the true, good, and beautiful. Engaging people with beauty is at the core of being a filmmaker for the New Evangelization as Aurora sees it. She says the film team will spend countless hours in the pursuit of truth, making sure that every shot and line is just right. Their goal as filmmakers is to proclaim truth by making something good and beautiful for the glory of God. Her primary motivation is to work with the media team by using her God-given gifts and talents, and the education she received in the AI’s Graduate School of Theology, to “make something beautiful.” And in regards to the future good God is doing in the film production side of the Augustine Institute? Aurora just simply says, “you can’t put limits on God.”

Meditations on Mary A new volume of devotional literature translated by Christopher Blum
Sophia Institute Press has released the third volume of Christopher Blum’s trilogy of translations from the spiritual writings of Bishop Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet, Meditations on Mary. Like the previously published meditations for Advent and Lent, these are short reflections appropriate for daily spiritual reading. The Meditations on Mary follow the order of Our Lady’s life, from her Immaculate Conception to her Coronation as Queen of Heaven. Dr. Jeff Mirus of CatholicCulture.org observed that, in them, the “quality of Bossuet’s prose is surpassed only by the depth of his insights” and that both the beauty and the lessons “come through clearly in Blum’s fine translation.”
