“Faith needs to be strengthened through teaching, so that it can enlighten the minds and hearts of believers.” So began the apostolic letter Fides per Doctrinam by which Benedict XVI confided the task of overseeing the work of catechesis to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization.

This affirmation is our charter as Catholic educators.

For indeed the love of God was “made manifest among us” when “God sent his only Son into the world” (1 John 4:9), and our response of faith to Jesus’ revelation of the God’s love is the beginning of a great journey to our heavenly home.

The faculty and staff of the Augustine Institute invite you to join us in that journey in our common studies, works of mercy, and prayer. This journey is a quest for holiness, a quest which we must place at the very center of our efforts to further the New Evangelization. For, as our Holy Father emeritus explained, what the world today needs is “people who speak to God, so as to be able to speak of God.”

As you consider the prospect of joining our academic community, I invite you to peruse this website, to preview three of our courses, and to consider three documents attached here: a brief sketch of our approach to theological education, an introduction to some of our alumni and their work, and my most recent convocation address.

With cordial greetings, in Christ,

Christopher Blum, Ph.D., Academic Dean
