New Evangelization Curriculum

The graduate theology curriculum at the Augustine Institute contains the essentials for effectively sharing the Gospel in the New Evangelization: Three courses in Sacred Scripture that teach you how to bring the Word of God alive; Three courses in Catholic Doctrine that prepare you to give a reason for the faith within you; Three courses on the history and theology of evangelization to spur you to mission; and three elective courses that allow you to hone your special theological or pastoral gifts

Personalized Class Experience

As an Augustine Institute distance education student, you take graduate courses alongside our on-campus students through the Canvas online learning portal. You can view the video-recorded lectures soon after they occur and participate in discussion forums with both online and on-campus students. You will also have the opportunity to interact with our faculty through various media, including email, telephone, and video conferencing.

Watch Course Lectures On-Demand

The Distance Education program features the most advanced online tools for course interaction and resources.  Students access lectures anytime in an “on-demand” delivery style each week, maximizing flexibility to meet their busy schedules.  Courses are offered in structured Fall/Spring/Summer terms, to promote a learning community model and keep students on-track with completing their 12-course degree curriculum.

Week-long Intensive Course Sessions

The Augustine Institute does not burden Distance Education students with a residency requirement; however, students have the option to take week-long intensive courses on-campus in Denver in January and June to meet our faculty and their fellow students.  These standard 3-credit courses meet Monday-Friday, 8:15am – 5pm for a single week, and are followed by 2-3 assignments over the month following for a final grade.

Distinguished Faculty w/ Ecclesial Service

The Augustine Institute brings together many of the best Catholic professors with ecclesial experience to impart both knowledge and practical wisdom for carrying forth the New Evangelization.  Our faculty includes: Dr. Tim Gray, president of the Augustine Institute; Dr. Edward Sri, best-selling author and host of Symbolon; Prof. Douglas Bushman (Ecclesiology), long-time director of the Institute for Pastoral Theology; Dr. Pia de Solenni, who blogs regularly at www.moraltheologian.com; and Sean Innerst, author of the Pillars series (Ascension Press)

Nationwide Student & Alumni Community

Since the Augustine Institute was founded in 2005, over 250 alumni now serve in parishes, dioceses, apostolates, and schools throughout the world.  Currently, over 300 distance education students enroll in courses each year, including students from Europe, Australia, Singapore, and other nations.  The growing community supports and strengthens itself as leaders in the universal Church unified in Jesus Christ.
