“Come away by yourselves… and rest awhile.” Mark 6:31
Jesus invited his disciples to spend some time away with him in prayer. At the Augustine Institute, we are committed to helping Catholics understand, live, and share their faith.
Our 284 acre campus and first-rate facilities offer retreatants a beautiful setting to cultivate the important element of the Christian life of discipleship—time with the Lord in retreat and respite. Augustine Institute retreats provide you with an opportunity to step away from the busyness of daily life to spend time with our Lord in prayer, fellowship, and learning. We invite you to explore our available retreats and mornings of recollection below and allow yourself the chance to learn from experienced teachers of the faith, participate in the Holy Mass, and meet others who are also striving for Heaven.

Explore the transformative power of the Holy Spirit especially revealed at Pentecost and deepen your understanding of the Spirit’s mysterious and active presence in our daily lives.
Join us for prayer and reflection on the importance of leisure and its connection to culture. Along with receiving insights into how rest can be a source of renewal, you will discover the spiritual significance of keeping Sunday as a day of rest given to us by the Lord.
Join us at the Augustine Institute campus this summer for Dwelling in the Word: An Amen Retreat. Together, we will reflect on the practice of reading Sacred Scripture in prayer, otherwise known as lectio divina. This retreat, led by our Graduate School of Theology professors, will coverthe four steps of lectio divina: read, meditate, pray, and contemplate.
This year the Church celebrates a Jubilee of Hope. Hope as a word is often misunderstood to be optimism. In fact, it is so much more than that. It is a theological virtue given to us at baptism and is a key to help us navigate our Christian lives as we look forward to the promise of heaven.
We know more about David in the Old Testament than any other person. Not only do we have the historical stories given to us in the bible but the psalms he wrote provide us with insight into what he was thinking in his heart. If we learn more about David, we’ll learn more about Jesus.
On the feast day of St. Francis, this Morning of Recollection will reflect on his powerful call from the Lord to “rebuild the Church”. Through his deep Marian devotion and radical commitment to living out the Gospel precepts, St. Francis’s witness is an invitation for renewal in our own lives.
Join us on this solemn feast of All Saints as we reflect on the universal call to holiness in our lives. This morning will focus on the richness of the Communion of Saints and offer practical insights on how to pray like a saint, deepening our connection to those who have gone before us in faith.
Advent is a season of preparation and hopeful anticipation, where Catholics reflect on the coming of Christ both in the Nativity and in His eventual second coming. The figures of John the Baptist and Mary give us models of how to wait and to pray in this liturgical season.
