Joseph Burns, Ph.D.

Dr. Joe Burns is a fifth generation Irish-American from New York City who grew up on the East Side of Manhattan. After graduating from Colorado State University in 1973 he spent 20 years as an Air Force officer and flight instructor in both B-52 and B-1 bombers. He is a distinguished graduate of Squadron Officer School and Combat Crew Training School. Joe holds master's degrees in both Theological Studies and in Management and an earned doctorate in Education Leadership. Since leaving the military in 1993, Joe has dedicated his life to serving Christ in the Catholic Church in the area of evangelization. After serving as the Metro Denver Director of Evangelization and Catechesis Joe joined the faculty of the Augustine Institute as Dean of Leadership and Associate Professor of Leadership and Catechetics. He retired from the Augustine Institute in 2010. He and his wife Cathy have two children and six grandchildren.
