BOARD MEMBERS
Mark Bauman, Chairman Mark Bauman is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Augustine Institute, and one of the co-founding board members. He is also a board member and President of the Congo Relief Mission, Inc, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides humanitarian relief to the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is a former Chairman of the Catholic Foundation for the Roman Catholic Church in Northern Colorado, as well as a former board member of the Make a Wish Foundation of Colorado, among others. Mark retired as President and Chief Operating Officer of Starz Entertainment Group in 2005, and devotes himself full-time to apostolic activities of the Church, primarily in the Archdiocese of Denver. Prior to his work at Starz, Mark worked at various positions in the Cable Television industry. Mark is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mark and his wife Nancy have been married for 25 years, and they have three young-adult children, Lyle, Michelle, and Katherine.
Bruce Breitweiser, Treasurer Bruce Breitweiser is the Managing Partner of Dunbar, Breitweiser & Company, LLP, Certified Public Accountants in Bloomington, Illinois. His practice is concentrated in taxation of entrepreneurial entities and owners. He has held many positions within the Illinois CPA Society, including Treasurer and Vice-President and also served for Illinois State University as President of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Business, the related Alumni Association, and as a University Foundation Treasurer and Trustee. He has taught and lectured frequently and authored a book on accounting. Mr. Breitweiser received a BS and MS in accountancy from Illinois State University. His wife and he, through their private family foundation, are involved in community service, especially for Catholic Services and for historic preservation in McLean County, Illinois.
Terry Combs Terry Combs is currently owner, Chairman, and CEO of Integrated Airline Services Inc., Denver, CO. He is a member of the Finance Council at his parish of Christ the King in Denver, and served as Chairman of the parish’s Capital Campaign. He is a Member of the Board of Directors for both ENDOW and FOCUS, as well as a member of Legatus. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors and former President of the Colorado Arlberg Ski Club. He is a lifetime Denver Resident, a graduate of Yale University, and has been active in Aviation and Airline activities for 50 years.
Most Reverend James Conley Originally ordained for the Diocese of Wichita, Kansas, in his 25 years as a priest, the Most Reverend James D. Conley has served the Catholic Church in a wide variety of ways—as pastor, college campus chaplain, director of Respect Life ministries, theology instructor, and a Vatican official. On April 10, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI named him auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Denver and he was ordained on May 30, 2008. For his episcopal motto, Bishop Conley, a convert to the Catholic faith, has chosen the same motto as the great 19th century English convert, John Henry Cardinal Newman, “cor ad cor loquitur,” which means “heart speaks to heart.”
Bill DeMucci, Vice Chairman Bill DeMucci is a CPA and received his MBA and BBA from Iona College. He is currently a consultant to start up companies and organizations in the U.S. and China. He was previously (1981- 2006) co- founder and President of Titron Media Co. Ltd., the world’s largest independent manufacturer of VHS video cassettes. He also worked for American Home Products and Arthur Young & Co. in New York. He is on the board and works with several charitable organizations which include The Augustine Institute; Martha’s Village and Kitchen; Legatus and The Papal Foundation, and is also a Trustee Emeritus of Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital. He and his wife, Mary Ann, have two grown children Danielle and Bill, and four grand children: John, Matthew, Will, and Sofia.
Stephen Doran Stephen Doran is a practicing neurosurgeon from Omaha, NE. He serves as the Board Chairman of Midwest Surgical Hospital, a specialty hospital focusing on spine and orthopedic surgical procedures. He also serves on the Creighton Preparatory High School Governing Board as well as the Omaha Archdiocese Review Board. He is the founding president of the Nebraska Coalition for Ethical Research. He and his wife, Sharon, are the parents of five sons.
Lisa A. Fischer Lisa and her husband David live with their four young children in Fort Worth, TX. Lisa earned her MA in Accounting from Texas Christian University. Her current directorships and advisory positions include Stephen Brien Foundation, Legatus – Fort Worth Chapter and Holy Family Catholic Church Pastoral Council.
Rev. Monsignor Michael Glenn Msgr. Michael G. Glenn was ordained into the priesthood by then Archbishop, now Cardinal, James Francis Stafford on June 30, 1990. After an assignment as pastor at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aspen, Msgr. Glenn was appointed Rector of the newly formed St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in 2001. Msgr. Glenn still continues overseeing the seminary, in addition to the Catholic Biblical School, the Catechetical School, the St. Francis School of Theology for Deacons, and the Cardinal Stafford Theological Library.
Dr. Timothy Gray, President Dr. Gray is the President of the Augustine Institute, and also Professor of Sacred Scripture at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary. He holds a PhD in Biblical Studies from Catholic University of America. He is the author of The Temple in the Gospel of Mark: A Study in its Narrative Role, Praying Scripture for a Change: An introduction to Lectio Divina, The Luminous Mysteries, Sacraments in Scripture, and Mission of the Messiah. Dr. Gray is a partner with Jeff Cavins in The Great Adventure Bible Timeline series, the fastest growing Catholic Bible study program. A nationally renowned speaker, Dr. Gray has filmed numerous series for EWTN. Dr. Gray resides in Littleton, Colorado with his wife Kris and their son Joseph.
Curtis Martin Curtis Martin is the President and Founder of FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students. Curtis Martin holds a Masters degree in Theology from Franciscan University. He is co-host of the ground-breaking show Crossing the Goal on EWTN and author of Made For More. He was awarded the inaugural Excellence in Evangelization award by Envoy magazine. In 2004 Curtis and his wife Michaelann were awarded the Benemerenti Medal by Pope John Paul II for their outstanding service to the Church.
Gary McAdam Gary McAdam is a graduate of the University of Denver. He is president of Growth Ventures, Inc. where he has worked for over thirty years in the areas of merger and acquisitions, business consulting, and investing. He is a student at the Denver Catholic Biblical School, and is married to Claudia, an author, with whom he has two grown sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law (including an AI grad), and a terrific grandson.
Steve Minnis A St. Joseph, Mo. native, Stephen D. Minnis graduated from Benedictine College in 1982. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Washburn University in 1985 and Master's of Business Administration degree in 1993. He has served as a prosecuting attorney and a corporate lawyer for Sprint. In 2004 he became President of Benedictine College.
Dr. Jonathan J. Reyes Dr. Jonathan Reyes is President and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Denver. He served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Christendom College where he oversaw one of the most rigorous academic programs in the country. Dr. Reyes was the founding President of the Augustine Institute in 2005 and served until 2008. He received an MA in history from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Reyes has spoken on college campuses, at parishes, and at conferences across the country.
Kris Sprehe, Secretary Kris Sprehe is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a BS in Public Relations and Advertising and has served as CFO and President of the non-profit organization Newborn Hope, Inc. She has worked in public relations and management, acting as the Tournament Director for an international soccer tournament for 10 years, and in a financial and legal capacity for Sprehe Interior Construction, Inc. She has worked in social ministry in Colorado Springs for over 28 years and is an extraordinary minster of the Eucharist at Our Lady of the Pines Parish in Colorado Springs, a member of Legatus, and Chair of The Giving Tree project for St. Patrick's Parish in Colorado Springs. She is a wife and mother of three.
Don Western Don and his wife Barbara of 41 years live in Peoria, IL. Don is a retired Vice President of Caterpillar, Inc. He earned a MBA from University of Missouri – Columbia. He currently serves on the following boards: Peoria Notre Dame High School, The Salvation Army and Diocese of Peoria Finance Council.
